About the event
About the Event:
From April 16th to September 1st, 2023, Nathan Slater and Sanesh Iyer paddled a pair of sea kayaks from Victoria, BC to Yakutat, Alaska, covering a distance to 1935 nautical miles (3500km). Their journey led them through remote communities, abandoned industrial towns, natural hot springs, and to the base of North America’s largest tidewater glacier. Come hear stories covering the highlights (and some lowlights) from the expedition as well as some tips and trips for planning your own sea kayak expedition. Check out our trip blogs for a sneak peek at some of the stories we might tell!
**Bring a few bucks for drinks and snacks at the event**
About the Speaker:
Nathan spends most of his time playing in the waves on the West coast of Vancouver Island. He completed a Certificate of Wilderness Leadership in 2015, and has been working in the outdoor industry ever since. in 2019, he became a Level 3 Sea Kayak Guide through the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC and has now embarked on the journey to become a guide trainer. He loves being on the water and specializes in leading longer expeditions in remote stretches of the coast.
Sanesh is currently off exploring a new dimension to his career as an engineer in Zurich, Switzerland so will not be at the event in-person, but you’ll get to hear his take on the key details of the story!
